Standing Route 97 on a crisp June morning, I watched the first light of dawn hit the majestic peaks of Mount Shasta. Despite it being summer, the volcano was still heavily draped in a thick blanket of winter snow that glowed with a warm, golden hue. Standing by the side of the highway, I framed the empty road stretching directly toward the base of the summit, capturing a perfect moment of solitude with one of my absolute favorite mountains.
